Got a new 6.5x55 and it is a long way to the rifling with the lighter bullet weights. Would it be helpful to crimp? I have no experience crimping rifle bullets.

Is this a "new" rifle or new to you? If it is a military it is throated for 156gr bullets hence the long throat.Lighter bullets can be seated out to help accuracy.Crimping probably won't help but might distort the bullet and not helping accuracy.
