Should you decide on a heavy bullet you would do well with the well documented 215 berger target hybrid. Or if you are inclinedm the 230 gr target hybrid. A friend asked me to load up some high BC bullets for his Browning A-bolt with the BOSS in 300 WSM. It has a 21 or 22" barrel, hard to tell with that ugly BOSS on the end. I had some 230 target hybrids on hand and gave them a try with RL-17. Bullets were seated to fit the short magazine of 2.8". It was quite accurate without tuning the BOSS. Load was 61 gr of RL17 for 2735 fps. He shot a cow elk at 300 yds with this rifle. I was there spotting for him. It was a double lung shot. Cow took one step and stopped. The other cows with her came up to see what was wrong. In just a few more seconds the cow just tipped over with stiff legs and died. The other cows stampeded out of there! Needless to say the bullet exited leaving a 2" exit hole. Very impressive results.
