My buddy is going to be getting his hands on a Savage .300WSM. What have you guys found works the best for a bullet and powder combination?

Berger 210 hunting VLD's and H4350 powder have worked well for me. Either primer 210 or 215 will work. If I was hunting or in cold temps. I would use the 215. Matt

Lefty, best load for my hunt pal's 300 WSM Savage 116 was 185 Berger VLD with H4350 and 215M primers. We had to play with seating depth to fine tune. Good luck

I found that in my Savage that H4350 and Reloader 17 were good go-to powders for all bullet weights.

For factory stuff, Federal Fusion 165gr shot so well I quit reloading for them in this bullet weight. Just outstanding accuracy in three Savage rifles in 300WSM.

I Got the first data to reload the 300 WSM off the internet about 2004 to feed a Kimber Montana. My Best Load, Win. Brass, WLRM Primer, 65.0 Gr. (Sixty Five) IMR 4350 Powder and 180 Gr. Sierra MK, This was max for Speer Data at that time, good velocity out of a 24" Barrel and 9/16" to 1" groups. Worked up same load for 180 Gr. Hornady, and 180 Gr. Nosler Partition. Nosler not quite as good accuracy but great terminal performance on Elk and Caribou. I have some H4350 but I have not worked up a load with it. I have Tried IMR 4831 but did not get the wanted velocity with 180 Gr. Bullets. It may work great with 190 or 200 gr. Bullets. Good Luck on finding a load.

I've got a savage model 12 vlp 300 wsm and am runnin 210 vld bergers kissin the lands with 63.5 grains of 7828ssc with no pressure signs yet not sure on velocity but from 62.5 to 63.5 grains accuracy has been outstanding. ...it also will shoot just about any factory ammo you want to feed it....I've yet to own a Savage that was picky about what you fed it

You most likely see pressure signs with that load, it's in a lower node for 7828ssc and a 210. Just for comparison, my current barrel maxes at 66.5 and the barrel previous maxed at 67.5 with a 210.

I'm gunna leave it at 63.5 for now deer season starts this coming Saturday and I'm still 700 miles away from my gun lol.....

I have had great success with RL22 and 175gr Berger VLDs, holding well below 1/2 moa out to 800 yards (I didn't take any measurements, but when you hit a 10" rock 3/3 times and each impact is within 2" apart, its exciting. )
