just get a 338 rum or 338 lapua....about the same velocity as the win with all the advantage plus of the 300rum. :D honestly the brass is hard to come by these days and powder is just as hard, I think you can get away with some other powders in the 300 win and get good results but in the rum its like only a handful. with probably retumbo, H1000, and reloaders 25 rounding out the top 3. I haven't tried reloaders 33 or US869 so it may be in here as well but anything else and I have not seen the velocity run as good but this is just my opnion/results with my 300RUM. for as the 300 win mag you can still find brass pretty easy and a 180 or a 200 grn AB works great in a 300win mag. there are at least 2 handfuls of powder that can run pretty good in the 300WIN. But if you looking for that need for speed with heavy bullets then get the 300 RUM and then you will never say what if... Shooting a 300RUM in Remington sendero Muzzle Break side ported trigger set to 2 lbs 230 berger OTM 89.4 grns of retumbo COL at 3.792 ( does not fit in mag..single feed) velocity about 2966
