I think 83.5 grains is likely what I would use as max for the Hornady brass to last 3-4 firings. the primer pocket in the 85 grain load was looser than I would like and this was the second firing on the case. I stuck a 230 Berger ahead of the 84 grain load and it clocked 3090'. Again, a little too warm for brass to last but the bullet was jammed pretty hard which likely didn't help! I just loaded it according to the eldm 225's and the 230 otm obviously had a little less aggressive ogive.
Its been a while since I was able to do anything with the 300. After the first volley to try out the fire forming of factory rounds in my chamber, it was off to the Shot Show and then back to being slammed when I returned home. Today I was going to try to start some load testing but the weather moved in so I decided to just run some loads over the magneto speed (in the rain) to see how the velocity stacked up with some loads I had shot in the old barrel. Looks like it was pretty much what I expected with my hunting load from my old barrel clocking about 15-20' slower in this barrel. This makes sense as this case has slightly more capacity and a tad more free bore. I fired a couple rounds with H1000 to see how it compared to, what I think, is a factory load at 77 grains H1000 behind a 225 ELDM. It clocked at 2857' with pretty low pressure. Next came some of my N570 loads that I had previously shot. 83 grains behind a 225 ELDM clocked 3048' 84 grains at 3086' and 85 grains at 3125'. Below are the magspeed readings.
