Ed, i was looking for similar and ended up buying a Weatherby Mark V backcountry 2.0. I love it, shoots very well, super lightweight, and recoil seems very low. I very much recommend one in 280ai

Take a look at the Savage ultralight. I have one in 280 and have set up a bunch in 6.5 for friends. All have been really accurate and the accufit stock makes it easy to fit smaller shooters. I did bed them. The only down side for me is the spiral fluted bolt makes the action cycling very rough but the more you work it the better it gets. IMO hard to beat for the cost.
