Also, 25 percent of the tags issued in any drawing, go to a random drawing, this means you could draw the license with 0 points or 1 point. To realistically draw a unit that produces better trophy elk opportunities than what the general elk units offer here in WY, you are going to need about 9-10 preference points. The competition for the top units in Wyoming is stiff, requiring max or close to max points. Wyoming is the last stronghold of real good general elk hunting. Some of our guides here at NTO also guide in AZ, they tell us our average bull killed during our WY general elk hunts are usually better than most of the units in AZ units that require 8-10 points. The only differences being the AZ units offer occasional 360-380 class bulls. Our top bulls killed every year are usually 330-345 class bulls. </p><p>Hope this helps...</p><p></p><p>Respectfully,</p><p>Robb Wiley</p></blockquote><p></p>
Hey guys, I would be super happy to explain how the draw system works in Wyoming anytime. Call me (307-654-0000). Also part of booking a hunt with us, we will help you with the application process if you would like. In short, 80 percent of the non resident elk tags issued in Wyoming are in the general license. Last year it took 2 preference points to draw this General Elk license in the special drawing($1,268), 3 points in the regular drawing($692), a $15 dollar application fee must also be remitted. Hope this helps... Respectfully, Robb Wiley
