That`s what I was thinking when Rouge hunter (also known as Mike40x on SP.com) and I we going to get together on Aug. 2nd this past weekend. Well Mike and His sonTyler showed up Sat. morning and we started putting up steel targets at 100, 500, 1000 yards and then a 24"x24" steel plate at One mile. To make a long story short, All 3 of us got hits on the one mile target using Mikes aweome 6.5-284 XP 100 handgun. It was so unreal to know that I was able to hit, on my 2nd shot, that distant target. Well I sure surpassed my personal record from June of 890 yards. That plate is so small at 1 mile that I could barely see it with the naked eye even painted bright Orange.
Hopefully Mike will post up his write up and pictures here as well as on SP.
If your new to long range pistol shooting as I am, you have to get out and shoot these unbelieveable distances. WAIT! Did I say unbelieveable? Ha Ha Ha I am a believer now!
Thanks Mike and Tyler for your help and instructions and the use of one very nice SP!
What a weekend!
Oh the scope on my Striker didn`t have enough elevation to get it out to a mile but I was able to get to 1000 yards with it using my .270win. barrel and 130gr. Hornady SP innerlocks.

and a little side note- I shot at the 500 Yard gong with my old Mosin Nagant m44 carbine with goof Ol` open sights and made it ring with the first shot out of the barrel. Using mil-surp round.
another personal record for me.
sorry the post is so long but I am just so danged excited!

Rupe,
We had a great time shooting with you! It was fun wringing out the 6.5 x .284 xp-100 to a mile.:D Getting you on steel with the Striker (.270 win) at a 1000 yards was a real treat! Always special to share a personal best with good friends.

The drive home went by quickly while the kid and I talked about all those loooong shots.gun) -Good stuff...

As soon as I get some pictures from Tyler, I'll post them up.

Can't wait to do it again!

I had a ball and I can't wait for the next time too! I'll get my Striker out to a mile one of these days. Just need a few things done to it and on it. Maybe a 6.5-.284 barrel would be a thought.
Can't wait to see the pictures. He was sure snapping alot of them.

Thanks Ernie! It was so awesome to be able to hit a 2 foot target at that range, even if it wasn`t my handgun. But 40xMikes 6.5-284 xp100 is better then the cats meow to shoot. that is one fine shooting SP!

Kind of addictive isn't it?

Kind Of? hahaha It gets more addictive everytime I pick up my Striker it seems. I may have to put a stop to inviting people to come shoot here. I could end up spending the building of the house money into buying long range goodies. But then I would be spending money for a lawyer once Mrs. Rupe figured out why the house wasn`t getting done. :-(

Here's the three of us with the 24" x 24 " plate shot from 1 mile. All three of us put hits on the plate with my 6.5 x .284 XP-100.

Thanks Mike for posting up the evidence.
By the way the fuzzy looking ol` fat guy standing in the back left is me trying to not show how excited I was.
Mike is holding the xp100 so I won`t try and run off with it. Have I said what a sweet shooter it is?:D

Rupe,

I can cure that SP hole real quick.

How about a 18" 7 WSM Savage. New, unfired and looking for a home. Even comes with an extra 300 WSM barrel for grins.

IF you're interested.

Larry no way until the house is done. Mrs. Rupe would use it on me. Thanks for thinking of me. Those are real nice SP's you have!
