    What's happening with the NRA?

I am a life member of the NRA since 1967, like $100 paid in 4, $25 installments. I recently got an email that stated the NRA needed to reduce spending due to excesses of past management. This reduction would result in no magazine (paper) in my mail box. I could log on to my account and read...

Fire Forming 6mmRem/.244Rem to 6mm Ackley.

I just fire formed 45, 6mm AI using 8.5 grains of Hodgdon Tite Group, CCI 300 Large Pistol primers, fiberfill (pillow stuffing) & cream of rice (COR) instead of (COW). My rifle is chambered short so I got a nice crush fit upon chambering the 6mm Rem brass. No chamber cleaning was needed for all...

    New rifle/action for build

Wifey told me to not over think it & stay away from all those numbers. I just did some research on investment castings and stainless steel alloys and oxidation resistance.

    Library for bullet lengths

I frequently use the JBM bullet length list for Sg estimates with my home made Miller Sg spread sheet. Just recently my attempt to access JBM was blocked by my Malware Bytes security program. Before access but now no access - hazard/bad. from Malware Bytes: "What is happening here is not the...

    Problem bears in Japan

Bad bears are attacking humans at Hokkaido island (northern Japan) & apparently the military is being called in to control the bears. Ordinary Japanese citizens should have gun rights to shoot the bears vs military, machine guns like 7.62X51? Should errant projectile hazard be an issue 12 ga...

It is hunting season again for deers & other game animals

Yesterday at the range I saw much fumbling and ammo wasting as hunters shot up expensive ammo to get sighted in- like about $40 per 20. Dirt & dust flew as bullets whizzed down range & spent brass landed on concrete floor & littered dirt in front of benches. Frustration and anxiety was...

New scope - Burris Veracity, 4-20X50 30mm tube

Just bought my 2nd one. I now have 2, both on .22-.250, 7.7 twist rodent rifles. FFP scope, 2nd bar down good for 430 yards with 62 ELDVT at 3,500. Real happy with glass, reticle & mechanics but clicks are sort of mushy.

    How rocks are busted

Look at the stress - strain ellipsoid and imagine more than one massive force applied to same or very close proximity.

Same make & type of scope but different results

I mounted a Leupold 6-18X40 Mark AR today on wifey's rifle (she likes the mil dots). We have 3 of the same kind. My first step was to center the reticle on each scope. I did this using a mirror and centered the reflection of the reticle on the reticle. Adjustments were approximately equal range...

    I like wood stocks

I like wood stocks because they have substance between me and a controlled explosion when a round is touched off. Having a hollow plastic shell or being jabbed by a metal frame has little appeal. All laminated wood stocks have good grain flow.

    The dead backyard fawn.

Early this PM, I saw a dead fawn near the fence in our backyard. Real bad smoke in air and busy sched got me involved with other stuff. Wifey had a busy day planned for me as our Pastor & wife were going to be this PM's dinner guests. I was detailed to many house chores & dinner prep - we had...

Do we need this -- AI ??

Upon doing a internet search on bullet stability, like Sg, the powerful all knowing AI search engine returned ... "specific gravity" when I never used the term "Sg" . Now legions & legions of internet users will be fed stupid and/or deceptive stuff, in all subjects. Imagine, going to your...
