  • I am interested in doing something out of state for anything other than deer. Muley and antelope would be perfectly fine. Only issue is that I haven't hunted any DIY hunts before. All of my hunts have been in Texas in blinds or on refuge land. I don't mind if I don't kill something as long as I know what I am doing or my guide does. I don't want to spend the time and money and walk in circles not knowing the terrain or what I should be doing. If we do a DIY hunt I would like it to be something where we have a good chance to harvest an animal and be given a game plan on how and what areas to hunt.
I've been looking at a Muley or antelope hunt, but if my 284 project comes together by then, elk would be a possibility. I'm actually looking at a DIY hunt and have gotten a lot of pointers from a guy I know from where I live who's also on this forum. After talking with him and a bunch of other guys, it looks like a DIY hunt is very doable. if you're interested in something like that, we could start planning for 2015. My only problem is that my dates are limited due to the school year, basically I have 9 days total for hunt and driving in mid October, if you're interested, let me know, and maybe we can work something out that we can both manage.
The Build with Lorenzo didn't happen, I ended up having some major repairs come up for my truck, and that killed that. My hunt plans are coming together, though, I definitely won't be going this coming fall, as my wife will be 8 months along during the time I'd be out west....not a good I dea I'm thinking.
