Thoughts on Browning Gold shotgun

I'm looking at a used Browning Gold 12 gauge with 3.5" chamber. Price seems right, so if it fits me I might just grab it. Unless there's something I should know about them...?
I have a 3" and a 3 1/2".
My 3 1/2 does not cycle 2 3/4" good, but it was not built to either.
Might think about it unless you plan to only shoot 3" & 3 1/2

If the 3.5 will not cycle or jams sometimes with 1oz at 1290 or 1 1/8 at 1250. You very likely have a gas piston problem. The piston housing is an alloy. The internal spring is steel. The steel spring will gall the alloy housing and stick or the spring will break. The only solution then is a new piston.
I know these guns inside and out. I had two of them and wore them out. A steady diet of 3.5" shells will do that. Plus I work on shotguns. At one time I had a shoebox full of broken or stuck pistons in the shop.
Also, replace the action spring in the stock every two or three years whether it really needs it or not. That's cheap insurance against peening and damaging the receiver on any semi auto.
