I just used GunTab a couple of weeks ago. It really is a safe way to transact. Takes a bit longer than most other transactions.
I also completed a buy from a guy on Gunbroker for an item that is pretty scarce to find, a trigger group for a high end shotgun. The seller only had 2 positive feedbacks as a buyer, easy to get that. No feedback as a seller. I contacted him and asked if he would accept a facetime call to show me the item was in his possession. He did not hesitate and we facetimed, at which time I snapped a screen shot of his face. He showed me the item. I then used buy it now to complete the transaction. Mailed a Cashiers Check out and sent him a picture of the check and box, I sent checks by USPS Priority Mail Small Box as they don't get lost as easy. He received the package and sent me a pic of the package he was shipping. I was still skeptical but getting hopeful. Package arrived two days later and item was legit. I was his first positive feedback.
Once I had his mailing address for the check I also use OnX to verify the address is a legit home.
