I suspect the amount of material removed is minimal from the action itself along with whatever the length difference is for the bolt. Maybe I'm wrong. Just my guesses though. Just not sure how a titanium action with a CM bolt will lose more weight from length shortening than a solid steel action would.

Short - 17.4 (guessing)
Medium - 17.9 (guessing)

Info from Defiance product page

  • Receiver and bolt are finished with a Diamond Like Carbon (DLC) coating to ensure longevity and smoothness.
  • Recessed bolt lugs, Mini-16 extractor, and plunger ejector.
  • 0 or 20 MOA Skeletonized Integral rail.

I know defiance changed who does their nitride , who did you select to do the DLc?
 
I hope you understand that we will keep this information close to the vest. Finding quality coating operations is a real hardship and they have their own capacity issues. My gut compels me to be as open as possible, but in this case we will keep this confidential.

Respect, I spoke with Taylor today (another issue) and asked about the new TiX. Still in development and taking preorders to determine interest is what he said.
The only reason why I ask is because I believe H & M did their nitrating, but they have since went to another nitrating company.

We did use H&M for nitride but ran into a stretch of unusual results. We did our best to work it out but ultimately the effort fell short so we are on a new nitride outfit.
