what is a 7mm practical
Out of curiosity what kind of barrel life and velocities are you getting? I'm assuming you're 180 gr or heavier. TIA.It is his choice and some find true wildcats fun. The fact is the "practical" only slightly changes the shoulder angle and causes a huge hassle finding GOOD dies. The 7-300 win will be nearly identical case capacity with a regular set of dies available everywhere. Both the "Practical" and the 7-300 fill a nice void between the 28 Nosler and 7 Rem mag. My 7-300s actually matched my 28 Nosler with 180s and 5 grains less powder. I will personally never own another 28 Nosler. It is a throat eater. The op obviously gets to pick what he spends his money on. I was simply asking a question and making a suggestion.
You can NOT bump the shoulder with a 7mm Rem mag die. His shoulder angle is 30 degrees the 7 rem mag is 25. I have been down this road. Exactly why I chose the 7-300 win mag and Redding 300 win mag dies. Lee dies are also terrible. I think you will enjoy the cartridge but the straight 7-300 will do exactly the same thing easier. Good luck to both of you.
