Just wanting to say hello. I have been looking at this site for years, but have not been a member . I am a old Hillbilly from W.Va that has been in N.C. for many years now. My blood and heart is still in the hills, but this is home. I enjoy all of the information that is to be had on the rifle specs and great optics. I am just a poor cop, but I do enjoy reading about the lucky folks that hunt the west. Growing up in W.Va, there were opportunities for some long shots at times. In my time, a young man in the hills spent his time in the woods, not on social media or playing video games. Boy how times has changed. I have had some great, accurate rifles over the years and truly enjoy accuracy and quality, just can't afford it being a LEO. I have been very fortunate to have some great contacts in the shooting industry, mainly because of the USPSA, 3 Gun, and Carbine disciplines for the past 30 years. Being in N.C., I have had the honor to get to know some of the Elite fighters of the world. Shooting has been very good to me, and as I get older and can't run as fast, I look forward to more rifle work. Looking forward to being able to post and get into some discussions. Keep up the good work.

Welcome to the forum man! I'm a young hillbilly still in West By God Virginia haha. Good to see another guy sharing the same roots as me.

Thanks, now I know that I am getting old. I just looked and I became a member in 2012. Needless to say , I have not been very active. I even sold a rifle that I wish I had never sold.

Jud96 , all I can say is that you are lucky if you never left. I still miss the hills every day. This time of year is even worse. My roots came from the Fairmont area, had a small place there. Since I lost my Dad a few years back, I have not been back. I would normally have been in the woods this week back there, but now have no place to hunt back home. Grew up shooting groundhogs and then of coarse, being excused from school for the first week of deer season. Caught a lot of trout in the spring time. When I retire as a LEO, I may try and find me some place to go back to. The hills still call, and it is tough for sure. Good luck on a good deer. Hope it is not to cold.

I'm 22 and still in school. I may leave if there are opportunities for my fiancé and me else where. But I'll forever call WV my home and I'll never forget my roots and where I came from. I live at the very top of the Northern Panhandle. Not many big towns around here, other than Weirton, but's its still minuscule compared to other "cities". I'm hoping I get a deer this season. It's hard to find time, and it's even harder finding a good spot, but I hope this season goes well for me. It's good talking to you.

I lived and grew up in Follansbee. The farm was around Fairmont. You are in one of the best places for big deer in the state. I have shot many good deer outside of Follansbee. I even lived in Weirton for a short time. I played baseball throughout the tri-state in the late 70's and early 80's. Take care.

Man it's a small world. My fiancé goes to West Liberty University and I drive through Follansbee at least twice a week on my way down to visit her. Pretty cool man

I had a 4 year ride to West Lib for baseball and passed it up to go to the Steel Mill, Back in 1978, $25,000 was good money. What a dumb mistake. I used to work at Bubba's in Bethany, Groundhog hunted on Rt.88

It is great to be back. Work has kept me busy. I forgot just how much I miss this site. The information is great. I am even thinking of getting another STW, just because of what I have read in the last couple of days.
