Opening day already?! In August? Aren't the fawns still with their mothers?
Doe tags aren't issued until September.

Oh ok, my neighborhood in Georgia is a deer sanctuary so I still see fawns with spots on them. I'm getting pumped for deer season though since there is definitely going to be healthy deer population this year with all the rain we have received. The does in my neighborhood have twins and some with triplets!! I've also seen some 8 points in velvet tearing up my rose bushes.
I try my best to pass up little deer when I hunt. It's pretty easy to spot the yearlings / 2 year olds. All still pretty lanky looking. I would just hate to see fawns getting shot due to an early season.
This is one of our walkers. Our shooters are much better than this. He's too young.
I'd love to see some triplets!

Good luck brother. I am from SC and cant wait to finally move back. I miss hunting there and don't have to deal with a **** lottery to get a hunting tag like here in NM.

Ha! That good looking "walker" wouldnt stand a chance in my area of Kentucky unfortunately. Aggravates me to no end...if hunters see horns of any kind around here the bullets start flying. Hard to grow good bucks with practices like that. September 1st for the bow-season opener here. Good luck gentlemen!!

There are many hunters on many public lands around the United States especially in non-draw states that have that " if it's brown, it's down" mentality!

Wish SC would change the opening season date to oct 1st for deer and go though end of January. Also think we could also limit bucks to 2 or 3. The doe tags they give you are ridiculous, you have to buy extras in order to be able to use them any day other than their predetermined Saturday's.
