My brother and I had another successful opening weekend. I was able to take my oldest son deer hunting for the first time. He really enjoyed the hunt so I may have him take the hunter safety course this next year.
At first light we identified 12 legal bucks and 40 to 50 doe. My brother connected first with his personal best mule deer. For our area in Eastern, WA, his caliber of buck is rare to find. After he made the shot we sat still for about 5 mins as the deer did not know where the shot came from. My buck came up and stood by my brothers buck which sealed his fate and completed our buck hunt. I was able to also connect on a second deer tag in addition to getting a friend a buck on Sunday morning. Overall a great year that now allows me to focus on elk hunting.
