You can do a .338 Edge on a small shank. I did mine on a small shank, but it's done with a shoulder on the barrel and no barrel lock nut. If you call Pac-Nor, they will build a barrel in .338-300 ultra mag (338 edge) that uses the locknut in a small shank, if that's the way you want to go, I...

Good for you Savageman! I've never understood the folks who seem to think what they shoot is so much better than what another shoots. I have more fun with rimfires and air rifles anymore. My savage 17 hmr gets shot on every range outing and you just can't beat paying under 10$ for a tin of 250...

You're right in thinking that it's not what you need. It cures way too fast to work with, and won't stick to the tupperware stock, one twist and it pops out like an icecube in a tray. Try to find the Devcon, I've had good luck with Marinetex as well, but like JE said, I gave up on the stock...
