If you have a lathe already then some advice. Read everything you can. Start practicing on scrap or old barrels. You can also try apprenticing for a local gunsmith as well as machining classes at your local comm. college.

Are you planning on doing all the work yourself? If so, congrats. Do you have a lathe, tooling, etc? Just asking as that is a major investment.

The Timney is fine. Fully adjustable, can live in the real world with dirt and grime, and will do anything you need.

If you want it to shoot better, it needs a barrel. If you want to keep it for sentimental value, leave it be.

Have you tried JGS, Clymer, etc? I have that reamer but it would cost a fortune to mail it there
