    You’re right, I did bump it back to far, from now on I will just next size until it’s absolutely necessary to bump back and I’ll be a lot more careful during the process. thank you

    No it’s a stock firing pin and spring There certainly is a variation in the shoulders however I have been using the same holder for all my magnum cases so there won’t be any variation there Thanks

    Thanks, I gave that a try and the primer did not protrude, however when I tried it with a fire form case the dent in the primer was visibly deeper. So for now I will try this next size cases without the bump back and we’ll see what happens. Thanks for the good advice.

    Thanks to all of you that took the time to reply, much appreciated! So I removed and cleaned up the firing pin and bolt, with exactly the same results. Next I swapped another firing pin from another model 700 same results again. So it wasn’t a dirty pin or bad spring. Then I pulled the bullets...
