Hopefully your still around... I'm curious as to if you loaded the bullets out to the lands and also what kinda powder charge did you put in there? If none of that is the case for the large groups than id say it was a skinny light barrel for packing possibly a 26in also which means the barrels...

I'm planning on rebarreling my rum also, was curious as to what you guys think is the best optimal length for a new barrel? I was planning on 28in last year cause I don't want it to snag on everything when hiking but I think I'd probably want a little more for long range shooting/hunting...

A heavier barrel will cut down on barrel whip and also a muzzle break would too but truly ether or will do the trick. My stock 26" stainless rum whips something fearce causing the gun to be act just like your talking about. Honestly the best bet would be just build the standard rum with a 28in...

Shoots like a dream from mine at 26in, just cruising around 2850fps with 225s, 1-10 twist. I might go longer down the road but it's got the thump!!!!

I think your right with it handling more pressures but that's just max load data basically. My buddy's 338 EDGE is only shooting 2850fps, but @ 1960 yards he is consistantly shooting a group the size of a folgers coffee can, it may have been the perfect day with no wind but not many people are...

All depends on temperature for me, 26in barrel, factory rem700, 87grs of H1000, @ 32 degrees F. There moving 2850. & @ 70 degrees it’s 2970 or basically 3000... shoots **** good and it’s a light load. Hornady brass w/ the 225 Matchs. Iv shot out to 1560yds and the gun is still highly accurate...

What is your barrel length? Please tell me it is 26”, this will help me find a starting load for my rum using 230’s
