I never have used a brake while and NEVER remember the recoil. I shoot a 7 STW and use a brake at the bench

I have 3 #1 and all shoot well, the best is in 270 and shoots 1" at 500 meters, out of the box. My 300 win. mag. didn't do so well until I had work done to it

I use a walking stick adapted with a quick disconnect for glassing as I can no longer hold binos steady

I use a Ruger #1 so bullet in when I 'm ready to shot

Get the lightest and best you can buy. When I started I packed in 60lb. + rifle new I pack 30lbs. New and warmer equipment is GREAT

I have used 160 gr.N.P. for years and have had VERY good success on Elk, Moose, Deer, Sheep etc.

I bought a 375 many years ago and have used it on Grizz. and moose. Cant go wrong with one.

Did you use gaiters over your boots??

Yes, I have used KUIU gaiters for years and find they work well for me.

they did not fit as well as the Meindl boots and also did not have the support.

the first pair of sheep hunting boots I owned were MEINDL'S. then I bought a pair of kenetrek's and I'm not impressed with them so I would say MEINDL
