    Rings?

I'm not sure why you think the TPS rings will be 'around a hun and a quarter'. Check their website. TPS Products Online Store TPS rings run about $86 depending on configuration. The TPS rings are gonna be tough to beat.

    Finished the .270 Project

So far, I like it. It's clear, light, has lots of adjustment and repeatable tracking, and is moderately priced with a lifetime warranty. Not sure how durable it's gonna be... we'll see. Hopefully, I won't need the warranty :D Seems to be as good as my last VX-III, though. My hunting guns...

    Finished the .270 Project

Went with the 0 MOA because the maximum effective range of the .270 Win should be about 750 yds with my 140 gr AccuBond load - while still retaining about 1000 ft/lbs of energy. That range requires about 15.00 MOA of elevation (temp/altitude variables) and the Nikon's got 70 MOA of...

    Finished the .270 Project

I finished my .270 Project last week. So far, so good. It's gonna be the new Deer gun. Now I gotta get out and shoot it. Started life this fall as a blued Savage 111 .270 from Cabela's with the gray/black laminated stock. Couple of 'tweaks' done. -All metal redone in a black...

    Anybody calculated AccuBond B.C?

Meichele, Thanks for that info. I never realized how complicated that is. I've always thought that B.C. data was strictly the measure of 'efficiency in flight'. I truly appreciate the insight. I've always just picked my round, shot the drop data, plugged it in to the software and...

    Anybody calculated AccuBond B.C?

Meichele, Thanks for explaining that for me. Yeah, I was thinking you were having wide variations from the same load. Too bad I'm not shooting a .308 M118 match round, all the homework's been done on that one. Here's my question to the backyard scientists out there. Any .30 Accubond...

    Anybody calculated AccuBond B.C?

Meichele, I'm surprised you've found your B.C's to vary so widely. I would think that a true B.C would be one of the constant values in the ballistic formula. Weather (temp, altitude, and pressure) will vary by day or location. Muzzle velocity might even vary ever so slightly (wide...

    Anybody calculated AccuBond B.C?

Just curious if anyone's worked up their pet load and truly calculated the bullet B.C for any of these by plugging in the muzzle velocity, weather and drop data into their ballistic software after confirming the drop data in the field. Looking for an accurate B.C for these bullets: .277...

    Boone&Crockett ->Zeiss Rapid-Z ?'s

Don't get too hung up on the Group A,B or C thing. These reticles are valuable and can be spot on accurate with any cartridge, bullet, elevation combination if you do a little homework first. The reticle's hash marks are a set distance (MOA measurement) apart. I've got a VXIII 2.5-8 x 36mm...

    Cerakote / Teflon coating question

Just bought a couple of Savage 111's with the AccuTrigger for projects. I'd like to have both coated. Spoke with a few companies today (UltraCoatings, CCR refinishing, MR arms). Almost all are backlogged 4-8 weeks. All said that they don't recall ever doing a Savage with the AccuTrigger...

    Accurizing question

Thanks for that info. Doing it myself may be more than I want to tackle knowing what my goals are for these two. Sent an email to Kirby. Hopefully, he will be able to help me out. Jace

    Accurizing question

Just got 2 new Savage 111's in 270 Win and 300 Win Mag. Both have the laminated grey/black stock and AccuTrigger. 270 will be med range deer gun. 300 WM will be a Long Range Project. Got a few questions: Looking for any opinions of the Savage laminated stocks? Can I have the actions...

Need help with 'Tactical' Scope Rail/Rings

Ran an additional site search for Seekins, Farrell and Badger and found the info I was looking for. Thanks for the names, guys. Spoke with Glen Seekins on the phone. Very nice guy but he was backed up on orders and didn't know when he'd be able to make one. Apparently the Savage Left Hand...

Need help with 'Tactical' Scope Rail/Rings

I've just bought two new Savage 111's with the grey/black laminated stocks, left hand Long Actions in 270 Win and 300 Win Mag. The 270 Win will be a medium range deer rifle (to 500 yds). 300 WM will become a Long Range Project. I've mounted the Leupold 1 piece base to both temporarily. Not...

    Beyond Belief Video

There seems to be some confusion over the videos. The first is 'Beyond Belief' which is the hunting video. Burns states that this is not a 'how to' video. The 'how to' video followed the first one and is a 3 DVD collection called "How to shoot Beyond Belief". It is this set of videos that...
