    Bartlein 3b at the range

Good info. I’ll be honest, if it’s going to take that much longer than my quoted time then I’ll take it back and have someone out here do the inletting.

This is 100% the situation. Barrel cut and install and inletting being done there. Glass bedding was going to add a LOT of time. Although, now you’ve got me wondering if I misunderstood on the inletting.

Going straight stainless on the barrel for now. Rifles at LRI, now the waiting game…

    Bartlein 3b at the range

Figured I should update, since I got such great feedback. Dragged my feet and eventually the 3b sold out but they had a Kreiger #5 which has the exact same specs, according to their websites. Now just to decide on coatings…

Appreciate that. So the next question is, what do you guys do with the new barrel, just leave it bare metal or cerakote? The thought never crossed my mind to need to coat it but that’s pretty much the only option I’m guessing.

I’m not worried about the 3b being too big, just was wondering if a Rem Varm would be a better move. But leaning towards 3b now.

Didn’t ignore the first part, just didn’t want to jinx it. I was pre-planning for a Stalker LR I just bought. 😁

All good feedback so far guys, I appreciate it. My biggest take away so far is I need more rifles :D

I’ve heard it’s challenging and I’ve heard it’s not bad. When I’ve read what’s involved I lean towards the ‘ not bad’ side. However, as Rick said, can be tougher to find a smith that’ll do it and more expensive in general.

Thanks Rick. How does it do at the range? I’m looking for something that doesn’t lose much accuracy past a 5 shot string. I don’t need to do 30 rounds at a time, but it’s a hassle letting it cool down after a 3 shot string.

    Bartlein 3b at the range

Hello, I’m looking to put a 6mm Bartlein barrel on my X-bolt with a Game scout stock. It will be mostly for the shooting range but I’d like it to be capable for hunting as well. I’ve read a lot on the different contours but it looks like the stock isn’t recommended for anything larger than a 4...
