    6x284 shooters?

Mine is the most used rifle in the safe! Cant say enough good things about it. Use it for almost everything from jackrabbits to deer. I even has a coupe of elk bulld to its credit. Great round!

    Hunting In California??

If the trip is still on I may be able to hook you up for a pig hunt, maybe some quail. November is a little late for the A zone deer hunt where we hunt and I think it is too late for any deer hunt in Ca.

    Average bull elk weights.

Do not recall any that went overabout 575, but that is Co. where quantity beats quality every time. As far as horns go we do not see much over about 360 in the area we hunt. But we do see 10-12 bulls a day, sometimes more.

    Average bull elk weights.

Thanks for the detailed weights. Very interesting. My own experience closely follows that description. In five years of weighing elk with no guts, head or hide, the heaviest I can recall was a large cow that weighed in at 608. Most raghorn bulls came in at around 425-500 lbs like that. Heaviest...

    S.W. Co.

Rough country will suit me just fine, as long as I can look over a few critters once in a while. Thanks Mike you helped me make up my mind.

Co. Trophy unit draw, what should I do ?

Have not hunted Co. for a few years but last good tag I had was in 62. On opening morning we passed 33 bulls before 9 A.M. Several of those were at least 340 bulls. Lots of bulls but we could not find any monsters. Took nine years for me to get the **** tag and I ended up eating it, but lots...

    Hand guns?

I would let her shoot as many as we could get her hands on and choose what she shot best. If it is a .22 so be it, teach her to shoot for eyes. Training is far more important than the choice of weapon. Proper training will save a lot vexation. Muscle memory also helps getting a gun into action...

    .17 remington for yotes?

I have killed several deer and 2 elk with .17 Rem. The elk were all within a hundred yds and head shot. Deer were lung shot and they took some tracking but expired with one shot. The .17 will do for coyotes out to about 250 or so with good hits, I recall hitting one at abou 300 yds going away...

    Which caliber?

.260 or 6.5 creedmore would do what you need out to 500 at least, seems both have some good factory loads out there. they buch\k the wind way better than a .22 as well. good luck!! Save a fawn and get all the little dogs that you can!!!
