Thanks yf. I'll try on a weekday. No one there this weekend. Their website is not setup to leave e-mails. Probably too many wackos.

    Weatherby Vanguard/Howa 1500 Thread pitch

Can anyone tell me the thread pitch for the barrel for this gun. My lathe was made before Napoleon and doesn't do metric threads. Just curious how far off it is. Thanks.

Converting a standard long action to 7mm STW?

A lot of work may be required to make an '06 magazine, rails and feed ramp accommodate the 7mm STW, not to mention opening the bolt face and new extractor. Then if you seriously are looking at shooting 180 gn bullets, you may have to seat the bullets deep to fit in the magazine. In my opinion...

    Pac-Nor Polygonal Barrels

Thanks Mister(s) Mike and Jones. As I understand it Schneider was the barrel that David Tubbs used as well for some time in the 80's or thereabouts. I will have to see if they make what I want. Not sure they offered that barrel in anything under a 6mm.

    Pac-Nor Polygonal Barrels

I see polygonal barrels listed at Pac-Nor in smaller calibers. I have a couple of questions here that I intend to direct to Pac-Nor, but would like a second opinion first (if that makes any sense). First - Are there any distinct advantages to this system, regarding either...

Not Related to Anything - But Impotent!

Very exciting game. OU looked as if to say, "You shall bow to me" & Idaho apparently didn't get the memo.

    Progressive Twist Barrels

<font color="blue"> I thought that there were a few barrel makers that were still manufacturing progressive twist barrels, at least a few years ago. Does anyone out have any experience with this type of barrel and who makes them? </font> <font color="blue"> </font>

    338 RUM questions

http://reloadersnest.com/query_bl.asp?CaliberID=172&amp;Bullet=Nosler%20AccuBond Check out this web page for some possibilities. My 338 has a 28 inch barrel and I guess I haven't chronied it yet. I know that 5" high at 100 gives me a zero at 440 from the time I checked at the range. I just...

    204 ruger loads

I am using 40 gn Berger's and H4895 (although, I might switch to some other powder, still looking there). I didn't want it to be too terribly fast out of the shoot (though I chronographed it at 3700 fps), since I am trying to keep the hides. But these bullets hold up fairly well downrange...

    Elk Ridge Custom laminate stocks

Mr. Jones: You are certainly correct. It is a little risky renting them. But I have purchased reamers that I cut fine, but I was not too crazy about the results of the finished product. And then I'm stuck with the reamer (a particular 22-250 finishing reamer from a very reputable...

    Help me choose a cartridge.....

Mr. B. Have you considered going heavy? I have a Contender that is customized in a slightly modified 358 Winchester Cartridge. It was mainly designed for 600 yd silhouettes. I mainly use it for a backup when hunting elk with others. I've only had to use it once, but it did the trick...

    Need help with a 338RUM

Of the 4 elk that my 338 RUM have taken, 2 were with Accubonds. It is a devastating round. My best 4 shot group with the Accubonds was 2 1/2" at 440 yds. The Swift A-Frames worked fine as well, but do not have the ideal BC you are probably looking for. The only complaints I had with the...

    Elk Ridge Custom laminate stocks

FD I am sorry to hear that on the reamers. I have had nothing but good dealings with them. Even when I needed a different floating pilot diameter, they got it to me right away. Is there somewhere else that one can rent reamers?

light weight field rest, low dollar also.

Bi-Fur Pod - See http://www.varmintal.com/abifu.htm I made one and think it is better than Bi-pods attached to a rifle or Stoney Point Sticks. Also, good for shooting when on a sidehill. I modified one as well to be able to use it for a walking stick for snowy and slippery slopes. Don't like...
