Question about a load development method ....

Personally, with a highly desirable bullet, on a new loading project, I start with the upper 25% of listed loads, on its lower end. After full-length sizing and loading to standard specs, I find best node by 3-shot groups, increasing 1 gn at a time until pressure max appears. Then, at best node...

    Best Long-Range Dedicated Deer Rifle?

I know that he likes Hammer bullets, and a hot-rodded 25-06, but is this THE famed deer rifle they are speaking of?

    Best Long-Range Dedicated Deer Rifle?

I've heard many comments over the past few years from long range shooters that the famous ex-boxer "Butterbean" (US South East) has developed the best dedicated rifle and load for deer hunting known to exist. What exactly does he shoot? Is he building and selling this rifle combo?

    Best deer cart?

I use a trolly cart, with 20" bicycle wheels/tires. Built it myself, aluminum frame, old grocery cart basket, hooked and pulled by my Yamaha 200 BigWheel. Geared very low, so it pulls great in any terrain. Fairly quiet too. Cart wheel-spread is 30", and axle to hitch is 40". Also have small...

    Bullet bearing surface

My statement was basically balistically correct, considering all the involved variables. Your argument seems to be with the barrel-makers, and their twist rate charts. Prove your point.

    Bullet bearing surface

You do understand "Simple", and "Basic", and Conventional Bullet Shape, RIGHT??? Then add coaxial spin, longitudinal balance, and gravitational pull. Then consider release tension, friction factors, magnetism, plasma factor, and several other elements involved. And YOU want to make an...

    Bullet bearing surface

Basically, very simply, both ends of the bullet have overall diameter reduced about 3%, and a ring of that exact diameter is forced gently onto each end of the bullet. The space between them is considered the bearing surface. It is usually 55-80% of the bullet's overall length. Longer bearing...

    Best 7mm mag primer

It's much more than just 'How Hot' they are. Ask benchrest 7RM shooters which primers produce best accuracy and consistency at 1000 yds. Of all things, that should tell the tale.

Sig wins contract with the 277 fury

As I understand it, the 277 Fury was designed as a high-end sniper round/rifle. Personally, I'm expecting great things from it. It should usher in several advanced concepts and standards.

Is there any saving a barrel with an off axis chamber?

I believe that I would re-cut the entire barrel aligned on the centerline; shorten chamber 1/2", then re-chamber. Slightly re-contour outer barrel also. This usually works very well.

    Barrel life

I love the Rem 700 bolt action rifles. I have since my Army service. Mostly the 'Varmint Special' heavy barrel models. I find and re-build a near-new gun in 243/6mm or 25-06. I perfect them 'til they can group under .350 MOA, then shoot them a while 'til groups start to open up (usually...

    Best bipod

The real trick is to have some flex, but have the movement dampened, maybe with a silicon jacket in the flex joint. I like the big rubber feet for most apps.

Fooled Around & Found Out: 243AI

I've been shooting .243 AI for 2 years now; Love it! I've used mostly H414, 4350, RL17, and now trying RL26. All shoot well. Just starting with Hammer 87's. Looks very promising. This does everything most Americans want in a hunting rifle!
