    To bush or mandrel

Tiny Tim - interesting question, haven't seen any data on this but it seems to reason that as you increase the neck tension you would get diminishing returns in bullet grip. So for example, 2 thou vs 1 thou (doubling tension) might double grip but 4 thou vs 2 thou (again doubling) might only...

    To bush or mandrel

I've shot hundreds of groups trying to sort this question out and am still working on it. So if you want to step up your reloading game on the 375 RUM I would first consider making sure your neck thicknesses are as uniform as possible. I use an inside ball micrometer from sinclair and measure...

New build does not shoot. Need some help.

I don't think I'd be too worried just yet. You shot 3 different kinds of factory ammo in two different weights and these were the first 30 or so rounds fired. Lots of barrels take about 100 rounds before their speed starts to stabalize which impacts harmonics. I would probably shoot some more...

Primer pockets primers hard to get in.

Some of the guys have already covered this but my primer prep comes from my benchrest comp days. With either brand new unfired brass or once fired I first inside debur the flash hole with a piloted cutter (I have an old sinclair). You have to do this only the first time. Then I uniform the...

Yes the 6.5x47L was smithed by Gordy Gritters. Easy to tune and big node for the berger 140 hybrid target. Shot some 600 yd modified factory class at some local matches and did well. It's not really set up for bench rest but does well on varmints.

Thanks. Not sure how this on line sales stuff is going to turn out. Had a Rem 700 Varminter in 243 win and had it blueprinted and rebarelled to 6.5X47L a year ago. Tried to get decent accuracy from the original 243 but never got much better then 0.75 MOA which makes it a poor choice for...

Hi all. Been on the forum reading for many years but never post much. Been reloading and shooting for over 40 years. Got into varmint shooting at long range and 600 yard bench rest. Started cleaning up my reloading room as a covid lockdown project and thought I could help some folks with all...

    Is this normal

So I think this is what I would do if it were my rifle. And no it is not normal. 1) get factory ammo mid weight for the caliber stay away from the really heavy long bullets for now in case it is a short throat and your previous attempts were jammed causing a pressure spike. 2) measure your...

Low es/sd load that won’t shoot?

First off congratulations on getting the low es/sd most of the time I struggle getting anything close to what you've accomplished. I think your results indicate you have a proven load in that your component choices are working well together and your reloading technique, shoulder bump, neck...

Teaching somebody to chamber a barrel

Tbaxi - I've been a member of this forum for years and never post responses because of the useless opinions and non-helpful rants that are pervasive on this site. I'm going to break my rule here because you ask a legitimate question and over half of the responses were unjustified personal...

    A place near Olympia WA?

Topaz454 if the range near Vader is open to the public could you provide location. I live in area and have struggled to find safe LR places to shoot.
