At 50 yards you oughta be shooting one big ragged hole off a bench
old_heli_logger.
How much powder you using and what kind?
What's your patches look like...are they blown...if so I'd try a wonder wad or plain felt wad on top of the powder before the patched roundball is seated.
Looks like a modern cartridge rifle...kinda takes away what a traditional muzzleloading rifle is supposed to be. I don't understand why people even bother with them...other than just extending a season.
Any updates gal?
Haven't ever shot the Kodiak but have owned a .58 many years ago...will handle anything on this continent with the load you were using.
Yep...I'm with Buffalobob...would like to see some pics of that shooter. ;)
That's some right fine shooting with an old cartridge and iron sights my friend...something most folks now days couldn't do with out the set-ups they have. ;)
We had a little snow a couple days ago...so me and the little longrifle got out in it. Had a couple bobcats worked my stomping grounds ahead of me...figured that had something to do with only bringing the one home.
Course it wasn't really a pleasant day either...can't tell it in the pic...but...
Looks like everyone has you lined out...I'll add my 2 cents too.
1. 2f Goex powder will do you just fine.
Swiss is a real good powder too but costly...can about buy 2 cans of Goex for the price of one Swiss.
2. Yep...you'll need a good adjustable powder measure for playing.
