westcliff - I have not confirmed, I broke my pin and the primer didn't budge. What you're saying makes sense.
Alaska - I measured every load with my Lee scale before it went into the case. I agree, when working something up I like the verification of the scale.
I may just hang onto...
Well I had some spare time today and went out and bought the Lee Perfect Powder Measure. I couldn't justify spending 3 times the money on what is basically the same thing before spending 10+ times the money on an electronic one. All the reading I've done says that with what powder I'm using it...
Not that it matters, but it may, I am using this for a hunting rig so I'm not looking for match only bullets. SGK's are on my list though.
Thanks again all!
I have no chrono but there are no signs of pressure at the primer or neck. Off a bag my SBH is around 5 MOA but that's probably my flinch, not the gun.
The R92 hasn't had a ton through it, but I had a 3 round group all but touching at 50 yards.
Thanks for the replies fellas. What are you guys using for a powder measure that would thread into my rifle charging die?
The rifle is just a non-accutrigger Savage model 11 with a synthetic stock. I bought it as a cheap package rifle to throw in the truck and take hunting. Being in Iowa...
I reload for several handgun calibers but no other rifle until now. Well I got the rifle bedded and got my 1st run of .308 done. I need to purchase a new powder measure tool as my Lee double disc kit will only throw 43gr of Varget. I want to load up to 46gr in .5 increments but I'm maxed out...
Tape the barrel to float it? - Yes
Tape the tang? - When I tapped the action in to hold it I did it in such a way where the tang was raised, I'm sure there are other options and better ways to do it.
How much material used? I mixed up a more than I needed, put it on the areas I was bedding...
Well it came out with a little elbow grease and all that's left is to clean 'er up, get the scope remounted, and get some hand loads dialed in!
BTW I did flat the tang just a touch after some more reading. Not sure if it matters or not, but, I did it.
