I’m building this rifle up solely with the intention of going west for an elk and/or mule deer hunt. I’ll likely only get the opportunity to do it a handful of times if that which is why I wanted to stick with an action I already have and use with other short action calibers. If I were to ever...
Thankfully for me I have a pretty good stash of primers, 4350, 555, 565 and h1000. I think at this time, I’m narrowed down to 7saum and concentrate on the 175’s. Going to order a 22” carbon tube and run it suppressed.
Started with a Chrony, still have it. Went to a magneto v3, sold it for a labradar, then had enough frustration and sold it. Bought another v3 I still use and will eventually buy a xero. Sighting in and setting up the labradar on a firing line with other shooters sucks imo, needed a trigger for...
This is the exact reply I needed, I had my head so wrapped around bullet mass I haven’t even given any thought to sustained velocity at “X” yards. That bullet mass isn’t going to mean snot if it’s moving to slow to perform. Thank you for this.
I considered the prc but I could see there being a considerable amount of energy difference between a 140 or even the 153gr vs a 175-190. I feel the .270 to .284 being the sweet spot
Okay I’ll bite, what’s the downside of sst over ss? Both have in stock adg brass. I know case capacity is greater with ss but sst you get a more reliably feeding shoulder angle supposedly? Id be running at 22-24” barrel so is the little extra capacity going to play a role? I have never had any...
Powder, primers and bullets aren't a major concern, brass is my biggest concern. My only drawback with sst is being confined to only adg brass which is good but also pricey. I’d much rather be able to have the option of lapua or alpha.
I guess I should've rephrased what I'm looking for. I know one person can't answer what is best for me but I'd like to see opinions of pro's vs cons and what's working well for others. 6.8 has crap brass and limiting bullet selection but is there something really special about it that would...
New member here and I need the posts anyways so figured I’d ask the big short action magnum debate. I have a spare short action origin with magnum bf in the safe. (If I had a long or medium action on hand I’d be using it) Wanting to build a SAM with hopes of one day booking an elk hunt. I want...
300 blackout, 7.62x39 or 6.5 Grendel are all great choices. If I’m woods hunting and limited to 100yd shot or less I almost always go straight for my little 16” 300blk.
My hybrid is the loudest can I own aside from my surefire mini but it’s built for modularity and not so much for sound suppression. With that being said mine basically lives on a 6mm with a 30cal anchor brake. Are you running it direct thread? I’ve noticed to my ear it sounds a little quieter...
