    Fur Friendly 22-250 Options

On coyotes I have had really good luck with the Speer 52 gr HP’s. I have also had good results with Berger 50gr varmint bullets but it’s been a few years since I shot those

    Muzzleloader conversion

I have a few muzzleloaders already I was just thinking about maybe upgrading and thought building one would be fun. Also looking into possibly one that can run smokeless

    Muzzleloader conversion

I have been toying with the idea of converting a savage 11 that I have chambered in .243 in a Boyd’s stock into a muzzleloader. Has anyone else done something similar. Just wondering how much work it is and is it worth it or should I just pickup something like a CVA accura LRX.

    New 110 gr ELD-X in 25-06

Sorry for digging this one back up from the past but does anyone have any updates on the 110 eldx performance on game. I was debating trying them in my 257 weatherby for antelope this year

    Barrel cleaning

That’s a good idea. I normally just shoot other guns in between shots with my 257. It’s -19C here this morning so barrels cool off pretty fast right now by just leaving the bolt open and the barrel tilted up. I didn’t get much shooting done the other day because I only had about an hr to shoot...

    Barrel cleaning

Update. I got the copper cleaned out and got a few rounds down the barrel. After 9 rounds the last 3 grouped right around 1 MOA so it’s looking like the gun is starting to settle back down. I will shoot it again next time I can go out and see how it is. That is one downside to the 257 is it...

    Barrel cleaning

I think I will clean again and see if it comes out. It smeared in the lands but it does not look rough. It is also possible that the whole barrel might have looked like this before cleaning as I didn’t scope the bore befor I started. I will try and clean it all off and then I am starting with a...

    Barrel cleaning

2 questions for everyone. How often do you clean your barrel with a copper remover and if you have a bore scope how clean is clean enough. I noticed accuracy was starting to fall off on my .257 weatherby so I figured I would give it a good cleaning. I recently picked up a borescope and I noticed...

    260 Rem loads

Thanks for the info. I wish the barrel was the factory 26” but the previous owner cut it down. I got a good enough deal it it that I couldn’t say no. When this barrel is shot out I will go back to a longer barrel. I have been shooting for years but mainly 400 yards and down so I figured this...

    260 Rem loads

I know it’s a low charge but I’m thinking I might stick with the 40.5gr on h4350 and the 140 eldm. The accuracy with that load so far has been really good and I’m sure it will be more than good enough for me to start playing with some long range shooting

    260 Rem loads

Yeah I originally was getting pressure signs at 40gr. It was a used rifle so I picked up a bore scope and cleaned the barrel and the throat down to bare metal and that did help. I’m thinking I will just stick with the loads I have now and call that good

    260 Rem loads

    Thanks

    260 Rem loads

The lower speed isn’t the end of the world I just wish I could still run a little bit stiffer powder charge. 42gr seems a little low to be getting pressure signs and in order to get accuracy I have to drop down to 40.5gr to hit the next accuracy node.

    260 Rem loads

I’m just getting started in long range shooting but I have been reloading for quite a few years. I’m shooting a savage 12 lrp in 260 Rem that the barrel has been cut down to 22”. Im loading 140gr eldm and 143gr eldx with H4350 and Lapua Brass. With the 143 I am getting light pressure signs at...
