Yes the 168s are stable. I can shoot those here at 700 ft and they are good to go. Try the 175s. I talk to Hornady on the phone about the 175 ELDx and they said I need a 8 1/2 twist at this elevation because they will not shoot good groups. I will use the 162 ELDx this year and take the 175...
If you go to Berger's web sight and use their twist rate calculator you will see the difference in the stability at the different elevations for the barrel twist.
I never looked. The gun was bought in Dec of 2022 and wasn't shot until March of 2023. It might have 100 rounds through it. I believe I don't have the twist in the barrel to stabilize the bullets. Hornady and Nosler says 8 1/2 and I have a 9 1/2.
I have tried the Nosler 175 Long range and they were bad. I even tried them a few times at 300 yards and they were 4in+ groups. The Hornady 175 ELDx shoot a consistent 3/4 in group at 100 yards but I thought I would try the Bergers and see if they would group better...
yes. most of them did the same and a few would spread to 1 1/2. Nothing close to being good except for the ones from 3.32 to 3.24 those always had a flyer.....
I'm shooting 3056 ft per second. I shoot 3 and cool the barrel. I was wondering if I should just shoot the 162 ELDx which is good out of a 9 1/2 twist.
