    My action truing jig.

I used aluminum tubing for the sleeve. Turned and bored then split it. Loose fit because it gets marred up from the Allen screws. Remember, you can bend an action just like a barrel when dialing in. keep up the good work.

Help Troubleshoot Wear on Rem 700 Bolt

This upsets some people but here goes. The trigger catches the sear and that causes the bolt body to lift up against the action. Because the bolt body is forced up against the action, the bolt is not PERFECTLY aligned with the action, this translates into the lugs being on a very slight angle...

Help Troubleshoot Wear on Rem 700 Bolt

That is a grind mark made at the factory when they trimmed the rivet. The wear spots on the lugs is from normal use, it probably feels a little smoother then when new. I wouldn't lap the lugs. Very good pics btw.

xxx rated, Not for tender eyes. 300grn mk .338

I thought it was a close up at first, hole finger sized, didn't look like a big deal but I couldn't figure out what had hair like that. HOLY CRAP, I guess it isn't a close up.

    .338 Lapua mag build

Yes. Its in reality a HS Precision bottom metal. It took some serious reworking to get it properly pillar bedded, I used steel pillars. The entire bottom metal is epoxied in for greater strength to the system and stock. The 5rd mag is unmodified and removable by using the release lever...

    Savage BAS action lapping?

Your talking binding when pushing the bolt forwards and pulling it out right? If you apply compound to the front baffle and work the bolt for and aft, it will smoothen out BUT you may also expose steel to the elements. I would oil it up good and work it back and forth, without the mag. This...

    Savage 110 C action

It is a very safe and strong action that is mass produced in the US and very common in North America. IMO those barrels are not up to todays standards, at least everything I've heard about them as well as the one I changed out last week. They can be rebarreled with a full custom barrel ready...

    .338 Lapua mag build

My hunting buddy begged me to make him a rifle, here it is. Stevens 200 LA turned into a .338 Lapua mag with early Timberwolf mag and bottom metal. Gaillard barrel, Holland brake, Farrel base, TPS rings, Falcon Menace, Kydex cheekpiece I made, my freehanded bolt knob and a quality custom stock...

    action/ stock

Hey no problem. A hunting rifle has a fairly small diameter barrel and a target rifle has a fairly large diameter barrel. The portion of the stock that is profiled for the shape of the barrel is also known as the barrel channel. The stocks for each reflect the diameter of the barrel. If you...

    action/ stock

Since your 110E is a sporter barrel, the new stock would look better with the same channel inlet. A heavy barrel channel will fit but not look very good. If you do get a heavy barrel for it someday, you can enlarge the stock's barrel channel then, not a big deal. To be safe, measure the...

    Can a 338 lapua mag

Thanks J E Custom. I have looked at a few but never had the chance to work on or inspect one. Interesting lug contact area. With 3 lugs in one diamter and a few thou clearance, each lug is what, .44" long ? and .062" into the action [clearances reduce the actual contact area]. This would...

    action/ stock

7mm rem mag is a long action. All long actions stocks will interchange. I take it yours is NOT an accutrigger so again any long action stock will fit. Even if it were, its only a very simple trigger clearance issue you can touch up yourself. sharpshootersupply.com

    Can a 338 lapua mag

What are the measurements of the MK5 bolt? Body diam, head diam at outside of lugs, lug height, lug width? Any pics? Reason I ask is because this comes up often and I don't have one.

    1.2" and 1.25" Barrel shank?

Re: 1.2" and 1.25" Barrel shank? Some barrel makers list benchrest profiles as starting at 1.250" diameter around the chamber area which is called the shank, and list 1.200" diameter for the hunter profiles. Some people call the barrel tennon diameter the shank, likely due to Savage changing...
