  • I was doing some searching on the 6.5 RSAUM and saw a post you did several years back about a rifle you built. I have an Origins short action I was thinking about doing a 6.5 SAUM and wondered if yours was a short action.

I've built them on both short and long actions, you should have no problem running 140 class bullets in a short action. My current set up is on a short action ARC Nucleus running 144 hybrids and 143 eldx in mdt aics mags. if you were running the real heavy 6.5 bullets you may have to seat them a bit further in the case than desired. getting them to feed well out of a long action aics mag was a PITA

Ended up with a Hawk Hill in 7mm SAUM. Shawn at HH did a 7 SAUM for himself around the 162 gr ELD-X so I had one done too. Should be ready to go in a month or so. Now to actually find the 7mm 162 gr ELD-X!

Thatnks for the reply, sorry I missed it. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
See you have a 3-24x52 march. How do you like it? I'm considering this scope and the S&B 3-20 ultra short. I think i read in one of your posts the march tends to fog up in rainy situations? I live in oregon and just went through this with my NF nxs, I couldn't see anything after the first 5 minutes in the rain. The weight and all other specs on the march has me excited. Ed

Yah the exterior of the lenses fog up when it's rainy, other than that I love everything else about it… I've never had my hands on a Schmidt shorty but I've looked through some other full sized Schmidt's and I can't say for sure if the glass was that much better than my march but it was premium glass so I imagine the ultra short won't disappoint…
