Nope, just started with a utility knife blade and worked down. Took me a few hours of work but it wasn't hard to do at all. My gunsmith buddy recommended the utility knife method, but he prefers sandblasting/garnet blasting instead. That's how he removes all the finish from ones he's sent.

I read through all 4 pages before commenting this. In factory configurations, it ranks #1 flattest out to insane distances. 26 Nosler is hot on its tail. Hotrod either of them with light bullets and their MPBR is well beyond what I'm willing to shoot an animal.

I actually got it all removed by just scraping it off. No remover used. Lots to do, but the plan is working so far

It may be huntable, I dunno. I've always had a desire to hunt golden takin in China. I'd use my 280 AI.

It also appears to have a floorplate instead of the regular 85 box mag, which is insanely rare. Don’t know that I’ve seen more than one other. Absolutely beautiful. GLWS. If I was a righty I’f be liquidating a lot of my collection right now

Remington's always put one there because of the massive gap in the stock caused by the magazine cutout. It was originally just a brass pin, but this one and later ones have the pin covered.

That sounds like the perfect stock for me as well, even without the pic/spartan. Something like the clymr, but cheaper and less geometric.

I'd love to see one with a less bulky forend from y'all on a more classically designed piece. The Altitude's forend is about perfect, but the rear end and grip has a lot to be desired. I heard at one point that y'all manufactured that one.

IIRC, Browning throats their 280 AI X-Bolts long for that reason. As to the original question, I'd go with an X-Bolt or a Weatherby of some flavor.
