Nice buck!! Can’t question that performance! There seem to be a lot of folks that load them for hunting, but I was turned off a bit by my experience. But I may have to tune up a load and give them another try.

It was right around 130. Don't remember the exact weight. Someone caught a 250-lber two days after we left last year!

I've fished with El Capitan Lodge on POW Island for the past 5 years running. Very well run operation! Here's one of the halibut I caught last year on the GAF tag.

I used some custom loaded (not my own load) ELD-Ms on a hunt last year - I had some pretty impressive results at the range but was disappointed with the performance in the field, which is saying a lot on a Coues deer. Probably my own fault, not going with the Xs... but I wasn't super impressed...

FYI - open to tips/pointers on my method above.

I am a ways into my load development at this point - but to start, I tried out a few different bullets to see what my gun liked (although I had been shooting factory ELD-Xs for some time and getting sub MOA groups). Tried the Berger 140 VLDs, Hornady BTHPs, etc. Obviously was somewhat limited...

Sounds like a sweet setup. Any pictures to share? I just finished a custom 6.5CM on a Tikka action. 22" CF barrel from Proof Research. AG Composite Privateer stock. I really like it... so much that I want to start building another in a different caliber.
