Anobody tested Staball hd in 300prc? Seeing that h1000 is hard to come by, I was wondering about staball hd with following combination
24" barrel 1-8.5
Hornady brass
Federal 215 primers
225 eldm
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
I do like the price range on this platform, might have to tinker a bit. My question is does anyone here have experience or know something about this setup? Any information would be appreciated.
I watched my grandfather as a kid shooting a wild cow at 700 yards and dropped her on the third shot with his 303 British with iron sights,he said it's not about what rifle you use its about how well you know your rifle and your capabilities. I love seeing what I can accomplish with my 308 out...
I would absolutely want moa or sub moa at 1000 yards, would be for long range hunting, my 308 setup is very capable of this accuracy at 700 -800 so I wouldn't want anything less, but I want more reach and energy. Also be able to carry the rifle for 5-10 miles would be nice.

Would this be something to look at,I do like the Howa action,I just don't know about the barrel.
Correct,700 yards is a as far as I will take antelope or deer,I'm aware of my load and setup limitations. Soon as ingredients is more available I would like to move to 300 Win and good glass for 1000yards +
But until then I have to work with what I have available.
I welcome any suggestions.
Howa 1500 action in a Boyd's tactical stock ,20" heavy barrel 1/10 twist. Vortex crossfire 3-9×50 (I know not ideal but it works for me), 168 A-max and ELD, powder used to be Varget, due to non existing availability I switched to IMR4064 and love it as much as Varget.
Agreed, my powder charges come out pretty consistent, for what I use,I use Lee perfect powder measure then check on 2 different digital scales, 2 out of 5 charges wil be .1 to .2 over or under.
It is just mind blowing how forgiving some aspects of reloading really is in real world results once you throw all the scientific stuff out the door and do what works for you, non the less other opinions are fascinating. I never stop learning.
Yes I will have to do some testing, like I said I tested at 700(not very scientific, just to see if it will hold group) and still shot sub MOA with POI same as before, and I know 308 in my opinion is very forgiving.I will check velocity soon as I get a chance
I want to know from people with more knowledge on this matter, I shoot steel out to 1000 yards and hunt out to 700 yards.
My caliber of choice is 308,my question is does .3 grains of powder over or under going to make a difference,I have tested it at 700 yards and still shoot sub MOA also...
Just my two cents, my tool of choice is a 308 Howa 1500 action 20" heavy barrel laying in a Boyd's tactical stock 3-9×50 vortex crossfire glass and I run handloads pushing non other then a 168 A-max.
I shoot steel out to 1000 and hunt antelope deer and elk at 700 yards with clean kill, it's what...
I just so happened to stumble onto this discussion, why are you guys overlooking good old 308?
My tool of choice with hand loads pushing a 168 A-Max ,yes I said 168 A-max,antelope, deer and elk 700 yards is a sweet spot , always a clean kill.
You just need to know and understand the tool you are...
