  • Phil, My Finnlight is a 300 WSM. It doesn't shoot worth a dime. I am really not sure what's wrong with it and soon it will be going back to the factory for a second time. When it came back from the factory the first time it shot a little better than when I sent it in - about 1.3 MOA vs the 2-4 MOA it was shooting before sending it in. And this is with several different loads of factory and handloads. Well, soon the groups started deteriorating again. BTW, I gave this rifle a thorough break-in, cleaning after every shot for 13 shots when it stopped copper fouling. and after that I cleaned after every 3-5 shots during load development. When I got the rifle back after waiting 2 1/2 months, they said all they did was to clean it then shot a 5 shot group which they claimed measured .9 MOA They sent back a computer generated target - no bullet holes. This annoyed me to say the least. Well I'm going to send it back again with a letter this time and see what happens.

I've heard since buying my Finnlight, that the M85's are not as good as the M75's were. so if I ever get another Sako it will be an M75 and I dont think I will ever buy another magnum caliber rifle agian in a light sporter weight barrel. If I got a another Finnlight, it would be an M75 270 WSM. I really like the Sako action, but the stock is a cheap piece of plastic. What a waste on a great action like the Sako. I suspect the cheap plastic stock may be my problem or part of it - not sure.

So that's my take on the Sako M85 Finnlight. You can get NIB M75's on gunbroker - here's one...

If I bought one of these, The first thing I would do is sell the factory stock and get a pillar bedded McMillan or something of equall quality. You migh want to test fire it with factory ammo first though just to make sure you dont have a lemon and do loose the warranty.

    Hope this helps,

    Mark
