Are there other muzzle brakes like the Brockman or Savage muzzle brakes? I like the idea of being able to open and close the ports.

Is this one of the purchases where there's a sweet spot? I have pretty good glass on scopes and a solid spotting glass - if I should wait until I hit X dollars I'd rather do that.

Looking for bottom metal for a new build. Can be either M5 or BDL but needs to be a current inlet option (APA, Badger, Remington, Defiance, Seekins, PTG, HS) for Manners.

What actions do you guys like for under a grand? I've been looking at the Big Horn Origin but I'd like some alternative thoughts. Will go towards my first custom rifle.

250 Savage is a nice cartridge. The grendel works well too. I think the 7mm-08 is one of the most versatile cartridges around although it does have more recoil than other choices.

Thanks for the reply, I'll build the upper since I already have a matched set of receivers. I couldn't agree more about the trigger and barrel. I've been thinking 18-22" on the barrel but I will probably settle on 20". I'm really trying to get the best head-spaced BCG, gas block, & Barrel...
