This is what I was told by an AR500 steel target maker when I was target shopping.
AR500 steel is rated for < 3,000 fps at impact. The velocity is what's hard on the steel and causes the pitting. Pitting is to be expected when shooting those fast rounds at close ranges.
1/2" AR500 will fare...
I have mixed feelings about bore scopes. The old saying, ignorance is bliss comes to mind.
For example I never knew I hated carbon so much until I purchased a bore scope.
Maybe Varget for the lighter bullets?
My barrel is 26” 8 twist. With an all copper bullet like the 63gr AH I dont need to worry about spinning them apart, true or no?
Looking for a starting load for 224 63gr Absolute Hammers.
Was wondering if I could just use Barnes or Hornadys GMX load data as a starting reference.
