6.5mm copper monos for Elk - LRX vs CX vs E-tip vs CEB vs Hammer vs Lehigh

I've got two new 6.5-284 that I been testing different boutique copper bullets, Hammer and Cutting Edge are two I've tried. Be careful, almost everyone require a 1-8 twist. The rifle with the 1-8 twist I have gave excellent results while the 1-8.5 twist, not so much. The Hammer 125 gr...

    A New 6.5-300 Weatherby

That's why they call them toys! They're not supposed to be practical.

    A New 6.5-300 Weatherby

This is the third and last time I'll respond to a post like this; I've already started the process, bought the stock, have the action, purchased the dies, brass and bullets. I'm now 69 and simply want something different. I've got probably 5-6 years left in this sport and I'll shoot 40-50...

    A New 6.5-300 Weatherby

Sorry to say, I never got a second opportunity at the eight point I missed early in the season. I did however take a doe with the 125 HHT. Broadside shot, 180 yards. Through and through, trashed the lungs and clipped the arteries off of the heart. Dead where she stood. Couldn't ask for more.

    Buck Fever

I don't understand it; I'm 68 years old and I still get afflicted with buck fever. Last night I ranged him, 128 yards, a chip shot. He was standing still, perfectly broadside at the edge of the field, I squeezed the shot off and missed completely. He looked in my direction and walked off into...

6.5-284 reloading Dilemma Regarding H4350 Max Loads

On an off note, seeing that I haven't finished ladder tests for the 6.5-284 Norma, I took my 7mm Mauser loaded with H4350 and 140gr A Frames out this afternoon. Wind did nothing but swirl, impossible. Saw plenty of tails but couldn't get one to stand still for more than a second. Back out in...

    Gratuity/Tips for guided hunting

I've hunted a few western states, Canada and Africa. Africa was actually easier as the gentleman who acted as the front for the African company told me what to give the guide, his assistant and housekeeping. It was the guide's assistant who made the trip for me; carried my rifle at times...

    New Build: 6.5-300 Weatherby

I'm going to attempt to explain my position and, as best I can, explain why your position on this matter fails for a plethora of reasons. First, you're making way too many assumptions. In your world, the one any only fact that matters is achieving maximum velocity which you quantify as...

Bone to pick with new rifle owners - 100 yards out of the box

Take it one step further and look on youtube at some of the venerable experts who've been shooting or reloading a few weeks who've decided to teach the world what they know. Albeit, a few really know what they're doing, but a number of them simply like to make videos of themselves.

Thanks for the response; I would appreciate any and all info regarding powder and related data, thanks.

    New Build: 6.5-300 Weatherby

If you actually read my post, you'd realize that I already purchased the stock, dies and brass. The fact that I'm using the action from the 300 Weatherby should let you appreciate that I no longer have any interest in shooting the 300. Your assumption that the 7x300 is a better option is simply...

    New Build: 6.5-300 Weatherby

This will hopefully be my long range hunting rifle. I've got the dies, brass, bullets, stock and action (I've got a 300 Weatherby and I'll use the action from it.); My preference is going with a 26" barrel with a muzzle break. The question of the day is who would you recommend for the barrel...

To Hoard or Not to Hoard-That is the QUESTION???

That's about 20% of the closet; doesn't include the dies, brass, safes, and reloading bench either. Just the basics.
