Ross I would agree with you. I do not plan on changing any time soon. It would have to be something amazing in another bullet to switch. I have full confidence in this one.
My MV is 2153 fps. Running 106 grs by weight Blackhorn 209. At 50 yrds the impact velocity was 2008 fps. I’m assuming the short distance was the reason for the bullet recover because I have yet to recover any other bullet. My daughters at 100 yrds was complete pass through like the rest...
Had another good muzzleloader season here in Kansas. Buck was quartering away at 50 yrds. Bullet went in behind 4th rib on left side and stopped right under hide on right shoulder. Retained 278 grs of 320. You can actually see the where th bullet is resting in the picture. Black spot on bucks...
Let me check when I’m get home from work. I switched out breech plugs on my RUM. May still have some of the casings(some new some once fired). Can’t remember if they made the move to the new house in November. If I still have them, your son can have them for his hunt.
I have a Vortex HST 4-16x44 on it. I would also highly recommend a muzzle brake on it . The one Encore suggested is probably the best. I already had a Hawkins 3 port brake, so I had my smith install it. Tames the recoil down to .308 levels easily. Very comfortable to shoot and stay on target...
Arrowhead breach plug with 106 gr Blackhorn 209 with Fury Univeral Fit 320 gr bullet. Amazing combo in the RUM. 200 yrds complete pass through on mule deer last year.
