    Hunting ear protection

I have the Otto NoizeBarrier for hunting. I got my buddy on a buck last year because I heard it snap a twig and was able to clue him in. Plus the gunshot didn't ruin my already poor hearing. It's just one of those investments, whether otto or soundgear, or something else. Should have asked Santa...

    300 wm factory hunting ammo

haven't tried em myself but Berger's got loaded ammo out now, Berger 185 Classic Hunter. I ran at least six different brands through a 300WM Tikka T3x and settled on the 200gr ELD-X, it's what the Tikka liked. My 7RM stainless Tikka likes the Barnes and my 7RM T3 Hunter likes Hornady.

i don't believe it's been discontinued. they replaced the A-Max with the ELD-X. Black Hills just hasn't shipped any recently. i work for an online retailer of ammo, we have this on order and Black Hills hasn't told me I'm not getting any!

Otis and other cable type cleaning systems

it would take a LOT of passes with a bore snake to get a barrel "clean" to a degree where most of us would call it clean. i have bore snakes for all of my calibers, but it's more for convenience sake if i'm firing a lot of rounds and need to get a layer of crud out of the barrel. when guns need...

    Load development group problems

I generally bring 2-4 rifles to the range. That way I'm always resting rifles between shots. I try to make sure I'm giving each rifle a 10 minute break before I chamber the next shot in it to let the barrel cool substantially (well, at least when it's cool out...). Of course this also leads to...

    Tikka Load development

I'm running 73.2 gr H1000 with 168 gr. Berger Hunting VLDs. 3020 fps from my 7mm T3. I was afraid I wouldn't get good precision because magazine length is a few miles from the lands. My fears were unfounded. RL26 gave me great velocity but there would inevitably be a flyer or two in a five shot...

    Hunting from mountain bikes?

I have a flatbed trailer (wandertec bongo) that I often use if there are decent roads for me to ride in/out on. Throw a large rubbermade tote on it, panniers on the bike, a rack for my rifle on the handle bars and I can carry way too much gear in, and a whole deer out. Late season can be iffy...

Batns tsx on Bears at 500

Barnes TSX are pretty stout, and being designed for rapid expansion, shouldn't have a problem with penciling through. I'd be wary of a shoulder shot though. Those shoulders bones are strong. Just personal experience of losing my first bear. 30-06 at 50 yards. Rolled the bear completely...

What tires do you run on your pickup

1987 4Runner. Ran Firestone Destination A/T's for about 50,000. No problems. Good handling, good off-road traction, good enough performance in winter. Good gas mileage. Lighter than the BFG ATs and better reviews on TireRack. I was very pleased with them. Then I opted for the Destination M/T's...
