    Why isn't my brass growing...?

Shooting a 6.5 284 Norma with a minimum dimension chamber and Nosler Brass, spitting out 120 grains at 3267 and 140 grains at 2973. Getting great accuracy, but out of 6 firings with the same brass it has never needed to be trimmed. Every time I try to trim it, nothing comes off. You would think...

800 yd hunting load...Which one of these two should I choose?

I have got 6.5 284 Norma that I have worked up two loads for with cutting edge bullets. I want to tip animals over out to about 800 yds. One is a 130 grain, with a BC of 550, (using RE 22 powder) with an extreme spread of 4. Average group size is well under a half inch, at 2953. THe other one is...

    6.5x284 extreme powders

This is a very simple, yet complicated process. If you are using a bullet like Berger VLD, which only shoot accurately within a very specific jump, depending on rifle and load, you might want to mess around with neck tension, do a primer test, or vary the powder up or down to see what happens...

    6.5x284 extreme powders

I am using H4831 Short Cut. Nosler Load manual has 53 grains as max, and Berger has 51 grains at max. I am shooting 52.8 grains with an average velocity of 2973 with extremely good accuracy. Bullet is seated 10 thou off lans. I am also shooting 130 grain cutting edge bullet, with exactly the...

My Brass has a rim in the neck..WHY?

I am sizing with a standard redding neck sizer. I am using a redding body die. I did not turn up onto shoulders a bit. I didn't know that was necessary. The reason I tried to turn the necks again is because after five firings and after being anneeled, I thought it wouldn't hurt. In fact, I...

My Brass has a rim in the neck..WHY?

I have some 6.5 284 Norma BRASS THAT HAS BEEN FIRED FIVE TIMES. I aneeled it on the fourth firing. I originally turned the necks when I got the brass. I thought I would trim the brass and it hasn't grown at all. I thought I would for good measure, go ahead and re-turn the necks. When I slid the...

Could Mag primers bring down my ES?

Out shooting my 6.5 284 Norma, I have got a pretty accurate load that is doing well under 1/2 inch at 100 yds. 130 grain Cutting Edge bullet with re loade 22 powder, consistently giving me good groups, but my ES hovers in the 30-50's. H4831SC and Hybrid 100 V commonly give me an ES in the 4...

    H Hybid 100V 6.5 284 Norma

Just wondering if anybody out there has used the Hybrid 100V powder. I shot several groups today in 6.5 284 Norma. I shot re loader 22 and H4831SC and the 100V gave the best groups and highest velocity. Anybody know if it is temperature sensitive or not? My bullet is a 130 grain cutting edge...

    Brass Life

I have done quite a bit of reloading with 270 and 300 Win Mag. I can generally get 7 loadings out of 300 Win Mag RP brass, minimum dimension chamber. I am now primarily shooting a 6.5 284 Norma. I have Nosler brass. I am on my fourth loading, minimum dimension chamber. I am loading max load, (my...

    Copper Bullet Blues NO MORE!

Hey guys, A few of you saw my original post, "Copper Bullet Blues", but after alot of load development, I started progressively seating the Cutting Edge bullets deeper and deeper. At 10 thousandths down, they were hovering around an inch and a quarter, at 25 thousandths down, I got it down to...

    Copper Bullet Blues

Thanks for all the responses guys. My twist rate on my barrel is 1 in 8. I am running a 28 inch Brux. I don't really see the point in going with a bullet with a BC lower than 550. At that point, I may as well be shooting a 270. I think the reason most people shoot the 6.5 is the high BC, coupled...

    Copper Bullet Blues

Thanks for all the posts. BTW, Cutting Edge bullets sent me two half boxes of bullets for free!I printed up some second amendments T's and sent them to them. I have tried them at 25 off the lans, with H4831SC and 15 off the lans, (both groups were identical). I have now loaded some that are 50...

    Copper Bullet Blues

Had a 6.5 284 Norma built. It shoots three 140 grain Berger bullets inside a 1/4 inch all day long. California has gone to copper only bullets and the only bullet I have found with even a somewhat ok BC is Cutting Edge Bullets. They actually sent me 24 of them for free! These were 130 grains...

Load Data 200 grain bullet in 454 Casull

Just bought a box of Barnes XPB Pistol bullets. One of the gays at Banes said this would work through a 454 Casull. I have been loading 265 grain hard cast lead, but I want to speed things up and get a little more range. Freedom Arms load data tells me I can take a 240 grain JHP with H110 with...
