Use what he shoots best. European countries use the 6.5x55 for moose and have over 50 years. The Creed with 140 and the right placement will work. Yes, bigger might be better but a dead elk won't tell the difference.

Similar experience with sst's on my 6.5. Switching to 140 partition this year. Not the tack 0 as the sst or bt but good for the hunt and dependable with its history.

Go for it. Love mine. Get a better scope. There are recoil options with pads, brakes, inserts, etc. Enjoy it. I find good prices on brass at gun shows, etc.

I have 5 boyds laminates. Easy to install. Some needed a dremel adjustment on safeties. But solid for what i need.

P.O. Ackley once commented to start at 25. Easier to see what is happening, then move out. Always started there. Then to 100. Then 200.
