Ok thanks guys. There is one very long(3.25"+) cartridge that is essentially 408/gibbs size eg . Rim= .637 but is belted and belt is .653 wdith Accomodating that extra belt width would be too much of a modification for the mags then? Karl.

Guys will the AI mags handle a .338L with OAL 3.75"? I have heard they need everything to be 3.6" or less yet have seen other sources indicating AI internal length leaves 3.775" available. Maybe there was a different mag version that came out later? Thanks if anyone can clear up my...

That high? That's promising. I thought these things burned out in just a thousand or two, even at regular speeds.

I know it depends on a lot of factors but does anyone have some estimates of barrel life range for the 408 CT? I am not out to set any speed records but cruise along with 420gn bullets at say 2800fps and 28" barrel. Thanks for any guesses.
