I’m sorry, the intended use is kind of an all around hunting rifle, everything from white tails to elk. I prefer it to be in the 8-10 pound range and would like performance to be the main factor.

I plan on “building” a rifle, and by building I mean upgrading What I deem necessary whether that be barrel (I hope not), stock, lugs, mercury tube, brake etc. caliber aside, in y’all’s opinion what is the best factory rifle under or at a 2k$ price point?

Also, as a turkey hunter by heart, I understand the importance of getting close, I personally don’t think right now I’d shoot over 500 yds but when I get said rifle I will practice my *** off to gain the skills to shoot 700-800 yds. I’ve decided 1000 yds is not necessary. Thank y’all for you’re...

So far the front runners are 300 wm, 300 rum, and 7mm rem. Anybody have any thoughts on 300 wby? I’ve heard great things about weatherby rifles

I’m not so much focused on antelope, I just really want to shoot one later, more focused on elk and mulies

I’m kinda between 300 wsm, 300 win and RUM, I feel like the rum would need a little work to be “enjoyable” to shoot if I were to go that route, defiantly needs a brake, also would probably be too much on whitetail but I’m not real worried about that.

I live on the east coast but plan on headed out west (Colorado) to some land my uncle just bought and some outfitters land that I’m good friends with. I need a rifle that is pretty versatile. One that I can shoot muleys, elk, sheep, antelope but at the same time wouldn’t be too much overkill...

That would be an issue lmao, the newer hot aft brass isn’t as bad as the older brass they used. Brass is another reason I’m thinking ab the 300 rum but I still love the Warbird ballistics

I’m looking to build a custom 300 RUM based off a Remington 700 action, I kinda have an idea of what I want to do but I wanna hear other people’s ideas, what stock, barrel, trigger etc would you use. Also I wanna keep this gun fairly light, I just wanna hear some different ideas!

At the end of the day it would probably more work than it’s worth so I may go a different caliber, still my dream gun tho

You seem extremely educated in this, you mind talking me what I’d have to do to a .338 lapua receiver so it would shoot a Warbird?

I know this makes things difficult but I’d prefer a Remington action, but I appreciate the info and will look into the others!
