    Barnes LRX

Both of my children shot there bucks (one mule, one whitey) this last weekend with 130 grain ttsx out of my daughters 30-06. I will admit neither was long range both under 200 yards, but the bullet did exactly what I wanted. When I loaded these I was looking for a lite recoiling round that still...

7mm rem mag savage long range hunter

All my savage 7mm rem mags like something in the 70.? grains of H1000 and CCI 200 primers behind the 160 class bullets be it amax berger or matrix it always seems to settle in that 70.? grains area. The 1/10's change between bullets. I never could get retumbo to shoot in my 7's but that might...

    Cajun in Alaska

The 2 guns I have with choate stocks are a little heavy, but not bad with one of Lens double shoulder slings that he sells on this site. Mine weights 14# and my sons is 16#. He carried mine for 30 miles all together over the period of a week hunting season last year with no complaints. I guess...

    Cajun in Alaska

I have 2 choate stocks and I love them. They are very solid and accurate for the price but be prepared they do add some weight. As far as the scope I have no experience with nikon but I am a huge fan of vortex scopes. I would recommend going with the viper line or above. I learned from...

Finding the range past a rangefinders ability?

The shooter app also has a "calculate distance" mode that will works with either Mil dot or MOA reticles to judge range of a known size target. It works terrific if you are exact with your inputs.

    The importance of being Solid

I've noticed this also but it isn't very often that he kills beyond a grand that way. In fact the instances I have seen him make kills past 1000 was when he was in texas and that was from an elevated blind and all bagged up and rested properly off a bench in the blind. But I could be wrong as...

    vortex crossfire

I have two crossfires in 6-24 one is the 30mm tube and the other in 1". The 1" tube scope has never given me a problem and dials great as well as returns to zero every time. The 30mm tube under my 300wm unbroke carry rifles recoil broke and I sent it back to vortex and ten days after I sent it...
