They are relatively this skinned. They don't seem to be to tough. Shot placement is key. With your cartridge velocity I'd consider a tougher/bonded bullet to minimize meat and hide damage
One thought, hopefully this lasts long enough that ammo companies do increase production with additional equipment and labor. Hopefully all the new gun owners become allies at the voting booth. And become NRA members ect. Hopefully the desire to own guns sweeps across the nation
Seems hard to believe an accubond wouldn't pass all the way through? Was it a long shot?
Either way great to have choices.
I love the 160gr accubond in my 280ai. I hunt country that is pretty thick. Most shots are around 60 to 80 yards and either quartering to or quartering away. I really...
All you should do is expand the neck. Then load cartridge to fire form. The nosler reloading manual has a good write up on how to fire form under 280ai section. The neck/shoulder junction on an Ackley cartridge is 0.004 shorter than its parent cartridge. You are crushing the case which is why...
I've shot deer with my 223 and 50 gr tsx. They at 3000fps. They tend to pass through without much energy transfer. If using this bullet I would make sure to shoot them in the shoulder bone to transfer energy. I switch to 62 great federal fusion that I handload. These hit deer a little harder. I...
I hunt heavily timbered/brushy areas. I shoot shoulders with bonded bullet or partition to minimize meat loss and to break the animal down. It can be very difficult to find a deer that runs 60 to 80 yads after being lung shot when you can only see 10 yards in the worst areas.
